Formation at Central

The LIVE part of our vision speaks to daily habits, the rhythms that you establish to place yourself in the presence of God. We seek to attend to the formation of all our members. When we as individuals are shaped more into the image of Christ, this faith community become more like Jesus.
You are already experiencing formation whether you realize it or not. We are shaped and molded by the things around us, by culture, by relationships, by the media we take in. We can let these things form us, or we can set our intention on allowing Jesus to be our model and the practices of our faith to form us.

How are we formed at Central? What do we mean by formation? Scripture is full of references to growth, change, and taking on the image of Christ. We understand that our formation is not passive. While we cannot transform ourselves, when we open ourselves to God's presence we make room for the work that only God can do. This is important on an individual level as well as a communal level. God fashioned the two to work together. We can actively experience spiritual practices.
Here at Central, there are a variety of ways we engage with our formation as a church body. One is through our Sunday morning gatherings of Bible class and worship, times together on Wednesday nights, and special events like Faith Forum and Bible Intensive. Some members also participate in small group gatherings. If you seek to be more attentive to the voice of God in your life, you can also meet with a spiritual director.

What is Faith Forum?
When you have questions, where do you go? We strive to be a church community that welcomes questions. Enter Faith Forum—a safe place to have in-depth and open conversation on relevant topics.

As a follower of Christ, you desire a relevant faith in today’s culture, and you want to be faithful to God in all you do. But you’re faced with polarizing topics and may feel pressure to pick a side. More than that, you may question what a faithful, Christ-like response should be. We understand the uncertainty you are faced with, and we see the need to address these important topics.

We are providing Faith Forum to look at relevant topics, equip you with deeper knowledge, and to generate open dialogue in our church community. We hope to help you grow in depth of knowledge and open the door for further conversation. May God use this event to move us from where we are today to being better equipped to converse with one another and consider difficult topics through the context of our faith community.
A Deeper Look
We want to promote an open posture and faithful approach to topics we experience in our culture. Faith Forum is intended to be a time of extended learning and immersion in each topic paired with open conversation. As a church, we will follow the initial Sunday experience with more opportunities to process and dialogue about what we’re learning.  We strive to be a church community that welcomes questions. Faith Forum is a safe place to discuss relevant topics and have in-depth conversation. Let’s ask our questions together.
